Parks and Recreation
The Parks and Recreation Office is located at Melvin Miller Park, which can be accessed from Park Lane or Children's Home Road. The office is open from 8:00AM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday, and the general phone number is 937-652-1053. (For slo-pitch maintenance, please call 937-652-1976.)
The Parks and Recreation Division maintains and operates Melvin Miller Park, which has a pond, the Wendell Stokes Municipal Pool, 13 ball fields, 13 soccer fields, 8 tennis courts, 2 basketball parks, and several playgrounds. Smaller City Parks are the Gwynne Street Park, Ward Street Park, Roadside Park and Barbara Howell Park.

Use of Facilities
The Deck Facility and Youth Building rent for $100 for up to four hours and $25 for each additional hour.
Shelter houses may be reserved. Before completing a reservation form, contact the City at 937-652-1053 to see if the date you want is available. Then print and complete the form. Bring it to the Parks Building for approval.

Wendall Stokes Municipal Pool

In 2011, the pool will be open from June 8th until August 23rd (weather permitting - see below), 12 Noon until 7PM Monday through Saturday and 1PM to 7PM on Sundays.
The Pool can be rented for $100 per hour. For more information, including the Birthday Party Package, American Red Cross Swimming Lessons, Water Aerobics, Swim Team, and Diving Camp, see 2011 Urbana City Pool Information.
Sports
Children and Youth sports are handled by Urbana Youth Sports. Spring and summer sports played at City parks include coed baseball, girls softball, and Miracle Youth League coed softball. Fall sports include soccer, flag football and tackle football, all coed.
The City coordinates adult slo-pitch softball leagues in the summer at Melvin Miller park. An organizational meeting is held at the end of April. The number of leagues organized depends on the level of interest. A team fee is charged but teams are not required to be from Urbana. Previous years' leagues include Monday Night Church League, Thursday Night Mens League and Friday Night Coed League . For more information, please contact Bob Jumper at 937-652-1053.

Concerts in the Park
The Champaign County Arts Council will again be sponsoring the Concerts in the Park at Melvin Miller Park. All events are at no charge. You are welcome to bring picnic baskets, lawn chairs, blankets, etc. In case of inclement weather, concerts are moved to Urbana High School.
